The BAKER SPE-12G is compatible with a large variety of glassware, including standard test tubes, volumetric flasks and autosampler vials.
Samples are aspirated through disposable, prepacked extraction columns which selectively remove compounds from solution. Extracted compounds are then eluted into tubes positioned in a removable rack placed inside the manifold. Collected eluates are either used directly or evaporated and reconstituted for further analysis. Wide variety of organic samples, as well as trace metals in solution, can be isolated by selecting the appropriate combination of organosilane packing and elution solvent. Standard rack and collection tubes supplied provide collection of eluate in 2 mL , conical bottom, borosilicate glass centrifuge tubes. The Baker SPE-12G includes a twelve-port vacuum manifold (glass vacuum basin, cover with luer fittings and gasket, 12 individual flow control stopcocks, 12 stainless steel needles); a sample collection rack with three support posts; five height-adjustable shelves; nine shelf support clips; a vacuum gauge controller; a Solid Phase Extraction For Sample Preparation manual; a reply card for BAKERBOND SPE Application Notes and a set of instructions.
Manifold consists of support housing, vacuum basin and plastic cover. Support housing is enameled metal, 165 x 99 x 118 mm high and has 1/8 inch npt outlet for connection to suitable vacuum source. Outlet takes 1/4 inch bore vacuum tubing. Any unused fittings can be sealed with the manifold plugs supplied. Fittings extend approximately 28 mm below cover to ensure that eluted material is aspirated into corresponding collection vessel below. Cover seals against foamed plastic gasket. Requires suitable external vacuum source such as water aspirator or vacuum pump. Accessory racks can be substituted for automatic samplers. Without vacuum source, vacuum tubing or vacuum trap.
Normally, a 500 mL or larger vacuum filter flask is used as trap. Extraction columns are prepacked with sorbent (not included; see 8330D04, etc). For replacement collection tubes, see 2590C31.
