SODIUM HYDROXIDE, FCC or caustic soda, is inorganic, highly basic compound that is water soluble, as well as soluble in ethanol and methanol. One of its many characteristics is that it's a deliquescent alkali and absorbs carbon dioxide and moisture from the air. Food grade sodium hydroxide is used in the chemical washing and peeling of fruits and vegetables, softening of firm substances and as a thickening agent. Spectrum Chemical manufactured FCC products, including all FCC sodium hydroxide products have been approved for food and beverage usage, and are manufactured, packaged and stored under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) per 21CFR part 211 in FDA registered and inspected facilities.
