Bromo Cresol Purple Broth w/ Dextrose is recommended for identification of Escherichia coli and coliforms bacteria from water samples. It is used for enrichment and determining the titre of coliforms in the bacteriological analysis of drinking water.

- Appearance: Cream to yellow homogeneous free flowing powder
- Color and Clarity of prepared medium: Purple colored, clear solution without any precipitate
- Reaction of 2.8% w/v aqueous solution at 25°C. pH : 7.2±0.2
- Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 35-37°C for 18-24 hours
