GC agar base is recommended for selective isolation and cultivation of Gonococci. Addition of blood and other supplements makes media selective for the growth of gonococci. The growth of Gonococci spp. grows luxurinatly on this media. Various essential growth such as X factor from hemoglobin and yeast autolysate is added to favors the growth of Haemophilus organism. Various selective supplements are added to specifically isolate organism such as gonococci, streptococci and other Neisseria species.
