Pegmatite is an igneous rock that contains two vastly different crystal sizes. This combination of both phaneritic and aphanitic crystals indicates this rock formed at two vastly different cooling rates. Pegmatite is a classic rock for teaching igneous petrology, and is also useful in volcanology classes. Each samples is approximately 1" in length and comes in a labeled plastic bag.
